Course Description

The combination of Lubell Park, Mooser Hollow, and Bales Park create a perfect setting for a trail run. These trails are suitable for everyone from the fastest runners in the area to beginners experiencing their first off-road hike.

The start/finish area is at Lubell Park, 2910 W 53rd St. There is plenty of on-site parking at Remington Elementary School. If you need to park in the street, only park on the south side of 53rd and definitely don’t block any driveways.

Backyard Bonanza Course Map -- 12.5K & 25K

The 12.5K route includes Lubell Park, Mooser Hollow, and Bales Park. The 25K runners will do this same loop twice (in the same direction). Only the 25K runners repeat any part of the course. All running will be in the counterclockwise direction. Watch for signs indicating the right way, and a minimal amount of caution tape indicating the wrong way.

12.5K & 25K runners will cross Union Avenue between Mooser Hollow and Bales Park. The road will be open to traffic, but warning signs, flags, and volunteers will alert drivers. However, you are responsible for crossing at a safe time. Please listen for any instructions from volunteers.

We will have aid stations at the start/finish area and two locations along the course - at the connection of Lubell & Mooser and adjacent to Union Ave between Mooser and Bales. Be prepared to carry enough water to get through 3-4 miles of trails.

Backyard Bonanza Course Map -- 5K

The 5K route is generous and you will be just over 6K (3.7 miles) but you won’t even notice because the scenery is so awesome! Caution, you may want to go even longer - and we can make that happen…

We will have aid stations at the start/finish area and the connection of Lubell & Mooser. There is less than two miles between aid stations.

We have shifts available Saturday (course marking) and all day Sunday. We have shifts that are good for families. We have shifts that are good for sitting in the woods alone to ponder the meaning of life.

Mooser Creek Gateway: Lubell Park + Mooser Hollow + Bales Park

Lubell Park Trails is a multi-use trail system perched upon 40 heavily-wooded acres in west Tulsa’s Mountain Manor neighborhood. Lubell is Oklahoma’s first purpose-built adaptive mountain bike (aMTB) friendly trail, appropriate for a wide variety of off-road handcycles. These trails are also perfectly suited for hikers and trail running enthusiasts.

Mary’s Loop is a bi-directional 2-mile gateway trail appropriate for all levels. The trail is relatively wide and there are no steep sections or mandatory technical challenges. More experienced users will still enjoy the flow and speed provided by a smooth trail surface and bermed corners. Read more at TravelOK.com.

Mooser Hollow includes 2.8 miles of multi-use trails designed for beginners in mind. You will cross wooden bridges and experience Mooser Creek from several points in this area. Mooser Hollow includes a few more climbs than Lubell. The 5/6K runners will only get to see about half of these fantastic trails during the race, but exploring the full trail is great training!

Bales Park Trails is a multi-use, 65-acre trail system that features four bike trails ranging in difficulty from beginner to intermediate and provide fun and challenging experiences for riders and hikers. Each trail offers a unique experience with breathtaking views.

>p>One beginner-friendly trail is Little Rock. The 0.6-mile long trail runs both directions along the north side of the park. This quick and fun trail serves as the shortest route back to The Hub for riders looking to experience everything Bales Park has to offer.

At 1.9 miles, Blackjack is Bales Park's longest and most challenging trail. The trail winds and bends through much of the park's southern half and includes 220 feet of wooden boardwalk, rock gardens and other features to challenge riders looking to hone their skills. Read more at TravelOK.com.
